Job Title: Production Manager (2nd shift)
Directs the plant's production activities on a designated shift in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity and timely production of product. Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.
Coordinates the shift’s production and material handling activities through supervision of employees to ensure the shift’s production objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.
Reviews budgets for the production area.
Maintains control over manpower and labor costs in the production-related areas through cost-effective scheduling and utilization of personnel.
Maintains shift performance for scheduling, production, quality and safety standards.
Controls and minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, downtime and product re-work.
Ensures all required production reporting is timely and accurate.
Coordinates with other department managers and supervisors to ensure proper material handling, maintenance, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.
Maintains company standards for cleanliness, productivity, and maintenance in the production and material handling areas.
Coordinates shift activities through planning and communication with employees to ensure all sanitation objectives are accomplished.
Develops and controls plans and budgets for the sanitation area.
Develops and implements a master sanitation schedule/program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards.
Monitors CIP of equipment to ensure proper operation by shift personnel.
Oversees the storage and use of cleaning chemicals within the warehouse to prevent unauthorized access or use.
Controls and minimizes overtime labor and maintenance costs.
Monitors the usage of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and agents to ensure compliance to safety requirements.
Maintains close working relationship with QA and responds to deviations from standards immediately.
Coordinates with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble-free shift start-up.
Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees.
Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations and working relationship with labor union.
3-5 years of supervisory experience in a union manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
Associates degree in business or equivalent experience/training in CIP systems and chemical usage.
Working knowledge of sanitation equipment, methods and chemicals.
2-3 years production/group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
