POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Payroll Manager to join the HR Operations Team.  The Payroll Manager will lead the payroll team and oversee internal activities and multiple third-party payrolls for the entire organization with administrative processing responsibility.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Provide people leadership through effective coaching, feedback, and sound performance management practices. Act as champion for the payroll team and intervene on matters that create roadblocks to individual or organizational success
  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing and assist with exempt and non-exempt payroll transactions on a periodic basis.
  • A strong knowledge of Executive Compensation plans and management of such is strongly preferred.
  • Strong multi-state tax and payroll compliance experience
  • Project management & oversight for payroll implementations with ADP.
  • Assist with internal/external payroll audits and compliance reporting including 401(k) and Workers Compensation.
  • Ensure the processing of off-cycle payments for terminations by timely preparing and administering final checks within state regulatory guidelines.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of payroll operations
  • Oversight in payroll related input into month and quarter-end close activities; including but not limited to understanding payroll GL reporting, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist with driving and maintaining vendor SLAs
  • Assist and drive internal SLAs for employee and internal business partner payroll inquiries.
  • Perform other payroll relevant duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years experience with payroll
  • Experience with major Payroll and ERP systems (e.g. Ceridian, Workday) preferred
  • Strong understanding of full cycle payroll
  • A strong knowledge of Executive Compensation plans and management of such is strongly preferred.
  • Strong multi-state tax and payroll compliance experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results under strict deadlines.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and procedures.
  • Highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
    • Vendor Management experience
    • Highly analytical with working knowledge of general payroll protocols and accounting principles
    • Concise and effective communicator, verbal and written, with teammates and various levels of leadership as well as external parties
    • Excels in growth environments; versatile, capable of managing multiple projects and able to manage project plans, dependencies, and milestones
    • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

       

      EDUCATION

      • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field of study
      • Certified Payroll Professional (CCP) preferred
