We're seeking a Tractor Program Manager for our client in Houston, TX.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with the distribution and logistics teams to ensure that the Tractor program is meeting the overarching needs of the business (i.e. building a team across functional lines).
  • Manage the lifecycle strategy - cost, schedule and performance of the client's Tractor Fleet
  • Oversee and ensure reliable and efficient operation of Fleet Tractor Assets
  • Monitor /manage  the annual fielding and  turn-in of Capital Lease Tractors with all internal/external stakeholders
  • Manage/Monitor/Assess Tractor specification for performance to evaluate availability, reliability, and maintainability of the asset
  • Plan for future tractor needs based on projected growth
  • Contribute/lead the development of safe operating practices and improvement of tractor spec/design
  • Work with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in addressing asset quality, system safety issues  reliability, and maintainability
  • Work with tractor sub component suppliers in addressing asset quality, system safety issues  reliability, and maintainability
  • Coordinate, manage statutory and regulatory requirements of the Fleet Tractors (DOT, FMCSA)
  • Analyze and address monthly Out of Service Violations (OOS)
  • Formulate action plans to address national trends
  • Establish, implement, and monitor Tractor maintenance processes and procedures
  • Monitor, Assess Preventive Maintenance schedules and compliance of the Fleet tractors
  • Lead Maintenance Job Plan Development, Work Order Follow Up for tractor assets
  •  Manage Tractor Warranty program for OEM, Sub Component Suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee the  warranty claim process, coordinate policy reimbursement cost avoidance efforts
  • Coordinate tractor and cryogenic trailer system integration efforts with Cryogenic Trailer Program Manager and Fleet Engineer
  • Coordinate tractor maintenance requirements with Maintenance Management Program Manager
  • Establish and maintain communication w/Zone Distribution Managers, Supply Chain Management, Terminal Managers, Drivers and Mechanics in managing the Tractor Fleet
  • Conduct Profit & Loss (P&L) review and analysis on Zones and Depots to evaluate/identify trends and create action plans to address negative trends associated with tractor performance
  • Provide/coordinate appropriate training and assist in the development of vendor/supplier training and materials to enhance vendor partnerships and increase effective maintenance  
  • Identify cost saving initiatives with suppliers of parts/fluids and services and create programs/process to capitalize on cost saving initiatives
  • Maintain Vendor relations, Assist in negotiating pricing, supplies, and service availability w/various vendors
  • Create, submit, and manage appropriate budgetary requirements for the purchase of services or parts via budgetary request process
  • Ensure Maintenance Campaigns/Technical Service Bulletins  and Alerts are communicated and completed
  • Utilize and maintain maintenance management tools (TMT)
  • Execute additional Fleet Department initiatives and projects as assigned

 General Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Program/Project Management, Supply Chain Management, highly preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in Fleet Management
  • Strong knowledge of PC productivity tools such as MS Office and or Google Apps (PP, Word, Excel)
  • Proven knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other safety/industry organization standards
  • Solid project management/implementation skills with sustained improvements
  • Excellent communication (presentation) and negotiating skills, both verbal and written documentation
  • Strong Business and Financial experience including proficient P & L experience
  • Strong team leadership and participation skills (proactive, exhibits daily initiative)

Physical Requirements

  • Has full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to work around process equipment, including traversing ladders and stairs
  • Able to wear FRC clothing and other PPE
  • Ability to travel as needed (30-40%)
