General Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of daily transactions, month and year-end close, reporting, bank reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation in accordance with US GAAP


Essential Job Functions:

1.        Strong working knowledge of accounting for real estate including land development and sale, capital improvements, tenant invoicing, CAM reconciliations, percentage rent and tenant incentive payments

2.        Prepare journal entries related to business unit performance and month-end close

3.        Preparation of accruals and supporting documentation

4.        Reconcile AP, AR and balance sheet accounts

5.        Bank reconciliations

6.        Consolidate financials and intercompany eliminations as needed

7.        Manage fixed assets, ensuring assets are properly tagged, recorded and depreciated

8.        Bank reporting including quarterly compliance reports

9.        Month end report preparation and analysis

10.     Prepare monthly sales tax reports

11.     Prepare yearly census reports

12.     Prepare year-end audit requests

13.     Prepare yearly insurance audit requests

14.     Prepares, files and submits quarterly payments for Texas Unemployment Taxes

15.     Assist Tax Director as required

16.     Performing routine and ad hoc analyses as required

17.     Miscellaneous research projects


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The incumbent must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required for satisfactory performance.


Knowledge and Abilities:

·         Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint and Access)

·         JD Edwards Enterprise One version 9.1 experience a plus

·         Knowledge of US GAAP a must



·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·         Possess strong time management skills

·         Ability to perform calculations accurately

·         Ability to solve problems, provide solutions, analyze situations and provide effective and efficient course of action

·         Decision making skills

·         Ability to maintain a positive working environment and relationship with employees

Education and Experience

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Masters of Accountancy, preferred

·         Minimum of 8 years’ experience

·         Bilingual Preferable English/Spanish
