Plant Operations Manager

  • The Operations Manager position offers the opportunity to become a vital member of a high profile, high energy, Titanium Alloy production unit created within a well-established, respected company with decades of industry leading manufacturing performance.
  • The manufacture of Titanium Alloy process uses industrialized ground-breaking production techniques that have been seen as revolutionary to the titanium melting industry.

  • Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee all TiAl melting and processing operations in Warren, Ohio. TiAl department equipment includes: raw material Blending & Compacting, Two Plasma Arc Furnaces, Sawing equipment, Marking equipment and Inspection equipment.
  • This role will lead a team of supervisors and functional area leaders to achieve safety, quality, productivity, financial, and talent management goals while industrializing the process to support the LEAP engine program.
  • Key Responsibilities and Duties will include:
  • Lead a work force of over 40 hourly and salaried employees to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and financial goals. Increase productivity (OEE) and throughput through daily line-level leadership, management of tactical improvement efforts, use of CI/Lean tools, capital projects, execution of strategic projects and by motivating managers, functional area staff, supervisors, and hourly employees.
  • Embed safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping (6S) culture and accountability into daily operations.
  • Improve product quality and delivery by identifying problems in the manufacturing flow, analyzing root causes and developing corrective actions using Lean techniques and other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Monitor and assess operational data/trends along with financial results to develop long-term plans for facility growth and improvements.
  • Understand critical characteristics of the manufacturing process and equipment. Research options for new equipment; evaluate existing equipment for upgrades to achieve enhanced production and quality while maintaining standardization.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the manufacturing financial plan by managing costs, raw material usage and productivity. This includes the development and execution of annual operating budgets, cost reduction projects, and inventory management.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and feedback to direct reports and hourly employees to maximize teamwork and to attain high engagement levels. Key areas of focus should be employee training and development as well as succession planning to sustain the long-term health of the business.
  • Effectively communicate initiatives and goals; foster an environment of collaboration and shared commitment to the mission among all employees.
  • Implement and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment availability.
  • Key competencies include; Leadership, Verbal and Written Communication skills, Decision Making Abilities, Problem Solving Capabilities, Financial Management, Business Acumen.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to forge effective relationships with individuals at all levels of a large organization, from senior executives to floor-level employees.
  • Record of improving efficiency in shop floor operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • MBA from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of Metals melting, and maintenance background preferred.
  • Metals melting experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a Union environment.
  • Effective communicator in every setting.
  • Formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, or similar disciplines preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Capable of effectively using data and analysis combined with business intuition and emotional intelligence to determine root causes and implement solid corrective actions.
  • Ability to balance priorities and achieve positive results in safety, employee relations, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office. Experience with SAP a plus.
  • Ability to lead and improve teams by identifying and driving high potential employees, reorganizing people and roles to optimize team functionality, coaching and managing to address performance gaps, and attracting new talent.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and working knowledge in all business activities.
