Job Title: High Volume Manufacturing Engineer

Location: New Troy, MI

Reports to: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

General Description:

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks: Manage several machine cells in the Mill High Volume (MHV) Department Take ownership of the machining and secondary processes for those cells
Maintain part quality through machine adjustments based on CMM reports and hand gaging
Maintain cell tooling and fixturing Replace hydraulic fixture components as needed
Maintain part locators
Maintain and replace tooling as necessary

Maintain CNC G+M code program and correct/ update as necessary

Continuous Improvement Broken and Early Worn tools Evaluate tooling and develop corrective actions Track and manage corrective action effectiveness

Enter data into tracking data base
Analyze data for trends and areas of improvement

Cell OEE performance Enter data into database
Perform trend analysis on performance
Develop improvement strategies to increase cell performance

Operator performance Help train new operators and work with experienced operators to maintain quality and production standards
Write and maintain work instructions
Develop training material and ideas to improve operator performance

Write and maintain FMEAs for production cells
Research and implement tooling advancements/ replacements for new and active cells

Set-up CNC mills for High-Volume production Set up machine and tooling for production
Machine first set of parts for Quality inspection

7-15 years setup experience on CNC Mills
4 year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing/ Industrial/ Fabrication Sciences (preferred not required)
Solid G & M coding skills
Self-directed and motivated
Strong ethics to work with management and peers as a team
Proven programming experience on Fanuc controls
Ability to read and interpret blueprints including a solid understanding of Geometric tolerancing
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word

Ability to work in a fast past environment.
Must be open to working some overtime.
Must be able to communicate/read/write in English.
Perform typical machine shop operations.

Preferred but not required Qualifications Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/ Six Sigma/ SPC
Ability to program, run, and maintain Fanuc robots
Knowledge of Microsoft Access
Knowledge of Solid works software
Experience with Mori Seki CNC controls
Able to program and run Zoller tool pre-setter machine
Knowledge of TS 16995 or ISO 9000 procedures and guidelines

Physical Requirements
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items
Responding to public address system announcements
Walking and standing
Lifting twenty-five (25) pounds or more
Ability to see clearly even with the use of visual aids (e.g. glasses, etc.)

Environmental Job Requirements
Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface
The shop environment can be dusty and noisy
Door are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
Shop is not air conditioned so environment will be hot and humid in summer
Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machinery
May have to handle parts with sharp edges
Passing forklifts emit gas fumesTools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materials
May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can fluctuate

The wearing of Safety Glasses when working on the shop floor.
