Technical Accounting Manager
The Manager of Technical Accounting will principally 1.) Conduct research and prepare documentation of accounting treatment for various contracts, transactions and accounting issues under US GAAP and other regulatory accounting guidance and coordinate the communication of findings with the internal business partners (Corporate Controller, CFO, other finance and accounting organization, all level of business management, etc.), external auditors, and external advisor as appropriate, 2.) Lead and coordinate the preparation, establishment, and compliance with ’s financial policies and guidelines, 3.) Provide training to global teams for current policies, new / updated accounting guidance, and other complex areas of accounting 4.) Project lead on special projects requiring technical accounting guidance and leadership. 5.) Perform and lead accounting review for complex accounting areas such as purchase accounting, divestiture accounting, intangible asset impairment reviews and the annual goodwill process. 6) Lead the Revenue Center of Excellence including all technical accounting items under ASC 606.
Key Job Activities:
o Primary lead on complex accounting matters such as investments, acquisitions, divestitures, sales, services, leases, goodwill, intangible assets, and others;
o Perform annual goodwill impairment review, including partnership in coordination of statutory impairment review
o Perform quarterly and annual intangible asset impairment reviews
o Lead, establish and execute on Revenue Recognition Center of Excellence
o Understand new accounting standards, assess the implications, if any, to the Company, and execute adoption as appropriate, including communication and training
o Develop and/or update existing accounting policies and procedures;
o Project lead on special projects including accounting areas where expert guidance in accounting policy matters is required
o Provide technical accounting guidance and US GAAP interpretation across the Company
o Partners with business and corporate functions in interpreting and implementing applicable SEC, FASB, IASB, and other applicable accounting rules and regulations in resolving business issues, including writing whitepapers;
o Maintain and execute training for multiple levels and functions of the organization (including various forms to ensure understanding)
o Work on special projects identified by senior management and prepare whitepapers in support of technical accounting positions
o Act as a liaison to the external auditors to assist in their completion of efficient audit
o Provide leadership and support for the international accounting teams to ensure standard practices are in place and information is available for decision making
o Establish and maintain internal controls related to the above specific matters as well as in support of other control and processes owners.
o Lead continuous improvement efforts in all areas managed
o Coach and develop staff and/or finance and accounting organization including establishing annual goals and monitoring progress and achievement of results; hire and train to provide for appropriate succession planning.
Required Education: in Bachelor`s Degree
Experience (North America & LATAM):
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility
- Experience in a more than $1.0 billion, global company
- A minimum of five years of public accounting; public company experience
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is considered a plus.
- Must possess knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
- Experience in effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills capable of interacting with staff, peers, and senior leadership competently and effectively
Certifications and/or Licenses:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
