LOCATION: Shoshoni, Wyoming

Assists the department director in the day-to-day management of departmental operations and personnel management including scheduling, interviews and hiring recommendations.
Must be knowledgeable of, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, and will maintain departmental policies and procedures in support of these standards and other organizational initiatives.
Coordinates the laboratory Quality Control, Proficiency testing and inventory programs.
Monitors ongoing competency and skills of staff.
Reconciles department ancillary charges
Performs both routine and complex lab analyses and/or identification procedures on blood and body fluids.
-The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the hospital system laboratories.
-The manager establishes standards of quality, productivity and performance in accordance with hospital system policies and procedures and requirements of State and Federal regulatory agencies.
-Maintains strict controls over distribution and usage of controlled products.
-Implementation of the Laboratory Strategic Plan aligned with the hospital’s strategic plan.
-Promote both internal and external customer service through the development and implementation of programs and standards which reflect the goal of the department. Maintains physical environment in good order.
-In combination with the Ancillary Services Director, maintain personal development plan and provide management development and coaching for other members of the team.
-Develop goals, standards, policies, procedures and practices.
-Implement and monitor indicators of quality.
-Promote both internal and external customer service through the development and implementation of programs and standards which reflect that goal.
-Assure adequate quality and number of staff. Meet or exceed yearly goals for vacancy and turnover rate.
-Assist Ancillary Services Director in staff evaluations within the allotted timeframe.
-Assure that all staff is actively engaged in unit, divisional, and organizational shared governance activities as reflected in the minutes and other related documents.
-Manage the selection, development, motivation, evaluation and discipline of reporting personnel.
-Make job requirements and goals for each position clear to employees and provide sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency.
-Manage the development, implementation and assessment of departmental policies, procedures and philosophy as consistent with policies and values.
-Ensure staff competency and assist with staff professional development.
-Monitor and manage staffing and scheduling process.
-Provide leadership for development of departmental education goals and document accomplishments.
-Works in conjunction with and in the absence for Ancillary Services Director.
-Assure efficiencies in staffing and resource utilization by comparison with internal and external benchmarks as measured by productivity units appropriate for areas managed. Research and develop opportunities for revenue development for all services. Coordinate and approve purchasing requisitions, leases, vendor contracts and service contracts. Supervise the monitoring of inventory for the department; review service and maintenance contracts.
-Continually assess and improve the services provided.
-Assure continual readiness for regulatory compliance.
-Support performance improvement activities.
-Develop and maintain annual safety goal.
-Monitor and ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.
-Provide leadership to develop goals, standards, policies or procedures to ensure a safe work environment for customers and staff.
-Enforce policies and procedures.
-Coordinate and document attendance at required continued education.
-Is responsible to maintain and make corrections to the physical environment.
Bachelor's degree required in Laboratory Science or related field.
3 years supervisory experience and experience as Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician.
Registry required by AMT, ASCP, HEW, HHS, or NCA.
Position reports to the Ancillary Services Director.
Position will be over 2 campus' that are 20 minutes apart.
The Director will be 70% in leadership and 30% on the bench.
The Director will be over around 20 FTE's including MT/MLT and Phlebotomists.
Prior operational and supervisory experience within a complex medical center preferred.
The hospital will offer a range between 69K-100K depending on experience.
The position also offers a full benefit package including temp housing, relocation and retention bonus.
