Mechanical Design Engineer
Analyze project requirements as presented from sales and a review of project scope. Design and develop automated system solutions to meet system scope requirements. Create system BOM’s for mechanical and pneumatic components. Develop system manuals. Support the build of projects at times in a project manager capacity.
Responsible for the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designs.
Develop automated equipment designs utilizing Solid Works
Maintain accurate project documentation.
Responsible for creation of all the as built drawings, manuals, and documentation to the customer.
Responsible for conformance to design specifications.
Responsible to meet engineering deadline requirements.
Responsible to review and completely understand customer requirements and specifications.
Plant and corporate specifications.
Preferred vendor listings.
Part and assembly drawings and specifications.
Project specific quotation requirements.
Develop conceptual solutions and alternatives that may include: Process flow sequences and strategies, Part handling and fixturing methods, Station concepts, Material flow with system layouts and arrangements.
Interface with and provide support to all operational departments including Sales, Service and Manufacturing / Assembly.
Initiate as required internal concept review and brainstorming meetings.
Ultimately responsible for the technical quality of assigned projects.
Draw pneumatic schematics, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
Layout, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure drawings convey accurate information, and are error free.
Work directly with engineering staff and sales staff to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images, along with written and verbal descriptions.
Responsible for creation and maintenance of parts and bills of material.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
5+ years’ experience designing and detailing mechanical assemblies (Experience with Solid Works is a plus)
Drafting and design skills with metal fabrication, material handling equipment, or equivalent.
Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD, Solid Works, Windows, Word Excel, and Internet
Good communicator-presentation and technical writing skills.
