Our lead candidate, ibrexafungerp, is a broad-spectrum, intravenous (IV)/oral agent in late stage development for multiple indications, ranging from the treatment of vaginal yeast infections in the community setting to life-threatening invasive fungal infections in hospitalized patients. Position Summary

The Medical Director, Medical Affairs will be responsible for delivering ambitious medical strategies for our product; ibrexafungerp within the Anti-infective therapy area. The individual will be a self-starter with excellent medical affairs capabilities and who is seeking to be part of an innovative team. In so doing, you will play an important role in defining the product strategy. The role entails leveraging high impact evidence activities and medical materials as well as demonstrating world-class scientific engagement with external experts and other key customers. This position is based in Jersey City, NJ with flexibility for remote work when required. This role reports to the VP, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medical strategy and provide medical leadership for ibrexafungerp launch and commercialization support.
  • Provide hands-on participation in the medical affairs data generation and clinical trial development process for phase IV programs and post marketing studies.
  • Determine strategies for KOL engagement plans in partnership with the MSL Director, including events and activities at congresses, symposia and speaker events, all the while ensuring high scientific value and integrity
  • Closely follows medical developments within the Therapeutic area and partner with the communications director to develop strategies and execute on plans and tactics to disseminate new and available information to effectively transform clinical trends and emerging data to external stake holders
  • Responsible for identifying Ibrexafungerp data gaps in both vulvovaginal candidiasis and invasive fungal infections and incorporating emerging treatment trends to develop a data generation plan to support the scientific community data needs.
  • Will be responsible for developing and overseeing an investigator sponsored trial grant program and approval process.
  • Collaborate with internal key stakeholders to provide disease state content and product specific medical content for training purposes
  • Ensure consistency and approval of all medical content and scientific messages.
  • Responsible for leading the initial development and ensuring the accuracy of medical promotional materials and communications prior to submission to GMQA (Global Medical Quality Assurance) for the final approval.
  • Serve as medical resource for issues raised by internal and external collaborators, investigators, consultants and contract resources
  • Provide medical review and contribution to applicable Regulatory, Drug Safety, Market Access and Reimbursement documents
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Market Access functions to ensure alignment on product plans
  • Assist in the review of all medical publications, abstracts, and presentations
  • Exhibits leadership skills within and outside of the organization (including people skills, mentoring, presentation skills and professional interaction)



  • MD degree, graduating from a high-quality medical school.
  • Exhibits leadership skills within and outside of the organization (including people skills, mentoring, presentation skills and professional interaction)
  • Must be originally board certified in a medical specialty; optimally internal medicine and infectious disease
  • 5+ years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry with medical technical leadership.
  • Experienced in Medical Affairs or similar function and working cross-functionally across a product team
  • Highly desired: Experience launching new products
  • Proven leadership experience and able to work both independently and as a member of an integrated, interdisciplinary team in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be analytical and articulate in both oral and in writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate well with others at varying professional levels, especially Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public


Required Skills:

  • Understanding of the complex and evolving Medical Affairs space with insights about trends, opportunities, risks, and an understanding of external stakeholders (payers, patients, physicians)
  • Ability to manage overall business and medical priorities while also being able to actively engage in more detailed execution discussions
  • Ability to fluidly flex between high level strategy and detailed tactics as required
  • Strong analytical mind-set and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actions
  • Strong strategic, analytical, time and priority management abilities
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver medical presentations
  • Ability to view issues from multiple functional perspectives while managing organizational ambiguity
  • Proven ability to build relationships across key stakeholders
  • Proven expertise in cross-functional collaboration and teamwork
  • Exhibits a drive for results, sense of urgency and solution-oriented approach
