Our client is a leading manufacturer that has been around for more than 50 years and is growing! Join their team in Houston as a PLC Technician! They are looking for someone to maintain the industrial drive, PLC, and electronic infrastructure for the manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot, enhance, and improve industrial components while driving continuous automation initiatives. Suggest and implements revisions to existing product lines and process electronics. Certification in Siemens electronic systems is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and maintain manufacturing systems, including drives, PLCs, HMIs, touch panels, etc.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while maximizing equipment uptime and minimizing cost to produce.
  • Improve process capability and production volume by reviewing and suggesting process automation ideas.
  • Focus on integration of Industry 4.0 initiatives to drive continuous improvement focused on the corporate cost position.
  • Ensure proper electronic back-up of existing infrastructure including revision changes.
  • Stay abreast of changing industry offerings with regards to electronic infrastructure.
  • Review manufacturing processes with supervisors and managers to implement changes that continuously drive process output increases.
  • Develop and implement electronic systems that optimize all phases of the production process.
  • Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process.
  • Continuous participation in company safety programs and initiatives
  • Travel 10-25% to other facilities when needed
 
Qualifications:

  • Must have Siemens PLC experience.
  • Technical degree preferred
  • 3+ years Manufacturing experience required
  • Knowledge of drives, PLCs, HMIs, and touch panels including (but not limited to) Siemens, Rockwell / Allen Bradly, Eurotherm, Parker, Baldor, Panel View, etc. with a focus on Siemens systems
  • Proficiency with manufacturing electronic software including Drive Executive, Drive Explorer, Ladder Logic, etc.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills to include Excel and related computer applications
  • Proven detail attentiveness, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent math and measuring skills
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with various departments such as Quality, Safety, Production, Maintenance, etc.
  • Ability to directly participate in required upkeep across all manufacturing facilities (travel ~10 to 25% as needed)
