Job summary of the Human Factors Engineer:

A Human Factors Engineer with good experience in working on HF methodologies such as ethnographic research, interviews, contextual inquiries, use scenarios, focus groups, technical assessments, device UI evaluation, knowledge and comprehensive studies, expert analysis, task analysis, hazard analysis, risk assessment, formative study and summative studies is required to play a vital role in leading human factors and usability engineering activities to improve the design of products, specifically the HMI interfaces for one of our clients in Michigan. 
 
This role will encompass work on a variety of projects, helping determine usability and user experience design and evaluation, as well as facilitating research and development into the advancement of technologies to help solve some of the most challenging driver safety problems. In this role you will be responsible for Facilitating research into driver and interior sensing, as well as preparing critical reviews of research literature and competitive analysis and conducting product usability evaluations in bench set-ups, simulators, and in-vehicle.
 
This is work in advanced development of cutting-edge vehicle technologies for an established innovator in the industry.  The group will be going through significant growth this year, and this is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor.
 
 
 
Responsibilities of the Human Factors Engineer:
  • Facilitate research into driver and interior sensing, as well as preparing critical reviews of research literature and competitive analysis
  • Lead human factors and usability engineering activities to improve the design of products, specifically the HMI interfaces
  • Conduct product usability evaluations in bench set-ups, simulators, and in-vehicle
  • Apply human factors principles and theory to software design
  • Be capable of capturing customer requirements and applying to design thinking in iterative design processes
  • Work with development engineer to provide input on data collection
  • Collaborate with Research team on interior sensing research activities
 
Qualifications of the Human Factors Engineer:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Behavioral Science, or equivalent field
  • At least 3 years working experience with various HF methodologies such as ethnographic research, interviews, contextual inquiries, use scenarios, focus groups, technical assessments, device UI evaluation, knowledge and comprehensive studies, expert analysis, task analysis, hazard analysis, risk assessment, formative study and summative studies
  •  
  • Experience leading projects on human factors studies and data collection efforts
  • Solid background in statistics, and statistical model formation for experimental design
  • Robust learning and growth mindset
  • Previous experience with vehicle-based human factors projects
 
Compensation of the Human Factors Engineer:
Salary Range:  $100,000-122,000/year depending on experience
