Job Description   Job Title:  Senior Director of Human Resource (Sr. Dir HR) Department:  Human Resources Reports To:  President FLSA Status:  Exempt Prepared By:  Human Resources Prepared Date:  07-15-15 Revised Date:  09-01-17   SUMMARY 

 Responsible for the coordination and implementation of services, policies and programs through Human Resource staff.  Serves as a strategic partner and change mentor in all Human Resource practices and objectives. To provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.  The Sr. Director of Human Resource works closely with other members of the Leadership Team to define, plan, develop, implement, and oversee programs and systems to guide and attain the goals of the company. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visible commitment to the vision; emphasizing and modelling the need for collaboration and teamwork. • Participates in collaborative efforts to identify and develop new programs and services in furtherance of the company’s vision. • Responsible for oversight and accountability of all HR personnel. • Mitigation of risk through development, maintenance and implementation strategies of company policies, programs and practices. • Stay current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitor labor law updates and newsletters for changes that affect HR. • Conduct an analysis of the company’s regulatory compliance posture and the development of control recommendations. Consult with department managers to keep field abreast of changes. • Analyze and interpret regulatory compliance requirements, especially as relates to insurance companies, 401k and Deferred Compensation administration. • Review recent proposed activities by regulatory agencies to determine potential impact on Company operations. • Oversee and assist HR staff in monitoring and reviewing regulatory and legislative changes, preparing Company’s response to regulatory changes and following up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented. • Consult with business groups on strategic compliance initiatives and work with the Sr. Director of Legal Services to provide Company compliance perspectives and develop strategy to reduce any potential compliance exposures.  • Balance compliance need with business and Company strategies and create a company culture that instills team values and emphasizes empowerment of individuals. • Assist in a process of organizational development that plans, communicates and integrates the results of strategic planning throughout the organization. • Conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth. • Direct benefit administration and enrollment. • Compare, contrast and negotiate standardized benefit practices, globally. • Obtain bids upon renewal, confer with management regarding benefit costs, make recommendations as to employer/employee cost sharing, perform open enrollment and benefits meetings and oversee the processing of applications. • Assist in leadership and team building skills among mid-level and executive management.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and management of employee communication and feedback to help align and engage staff with the strategic goals of the company. • Develop strong working relationships with other Executives, management and staff, providing advice, guidance and coaching as needed. • Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and report results to management team. • Assignments involve work of a confidential nature, necessitating exposure to sensitive information and contacts thereby requiring considerable discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 May directly supervise one (1) or more non-supervisory employees. Accomplishes retention results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, commending and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures. 

 QUALIFICATIONS

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Master’s degree in Business with a focus on Human Resources or equivalent. • 8-10 years’ progressive leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. • Experience with geographically dispersed locations preferred. • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, and training, preferred. • Active affiliation with appropriate HR networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement, preferred.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strict adherence to the confidential nature of the position. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Outgoing and energetic personality. • Ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented. • Intermediate computer skills. • Experience with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. • Experience with SmartLinx preferred.
