The Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager is a critical management role responsible for developing, administering and maintaining programs that assure the production of high quality safe products. Also responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality programs from a 24/7 perspective. Responsible for leading and directly overseeing the following areas: functional HACCP program; 3rd party audits including FSIS-USDA, SSOPs, microbial and/or ATP testing of process equipment and environmental surfaces, GMPs, quality specification compliance, budget creation and compliance, SPC, Quality training programs and food analytical testing procedures.
The position manages a group of salaried supervisors for the Salad and Fruit operations, as well as the Sanitation Manager. Drives the process improvement efforts and requires excellent leadership skills to resolve quality issues and address facility and process issues. The position leads the quality and technical mentoring and coaching requirements for the facility. The position will report to the Directory QAFS and dotted line reporting relationship with the Plant GM.
The successful candidate will possess the following: -Ability to communicate effectively to cross-functional areas and must have an in-depth customer focus. -Effective decision-making ability to build strong customer relations in the quality and technical areas are essential. - Coaching /mentoring plant management and staff is a critical part of the position - Skill set to lead projects and drive continuous improvement using formal quality and continuous improvement tools - SPC and strong computer skills are essential
Experience: 3+ years (recent) experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a manufacturing environment preferably in RTE food products.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree. BA in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science and/or Food Technology. Masters Degree preferable
