PURPOSE: Technical specialist capable of problem solving; Steel making, Steel processing, and Wire Drawing. Reports directly to the General Manager in charge of welding wire drawing operations for NE Ohio location: 

o   Technical specialist on problem solving for steel making, rolling and processing.

o   Reports to GM.

o   Must understand processing and production of purchased steel and alloys, primarily wire fod and flat products.

o   investigating corrosion and metal failure/fatigue

o   liaising with and supervising engineering and technical staff

o   creating precise designs for components

o   developing new test/repair processes

o   liaising with clients to determine and interpret design requirements

o   providing technical advice about the suitability of metals for different purposes

o   making recommendations and advising about product feasibility

o   undertaking new product research

o   ensuring adherence to manufacturing quality standards

o   overseeing operational quality control processes

o   using both destructive and non-destructive techniques to test composition

o   investigating production problems.

Requirements:

·       BS Degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, with a focus in Metallurgy or equivalent experience.

·       Minimum of 3-5 years steel mill experience, melt and rolling preferred.

·       Familiar with steel mill operations.

·       Ability to travel 20-25%  domestically with some light international travel.
