Chemical Research Technician – Chemist or Chemical Engineer

Location: Rockland County, NY (Near North NJ, Montvale area and near Tappan, Nanuet, & Pearl River NY) 


This is an opportunity for a Chemical Research Technician to work Full-time day-work in support of R&D Process Development.   Be a critical team member in this R&D focused group, in a direct-hire position with benefits and annual raises (not another contract assignment).   


The work:

Under the direction of the lead PhD Process Development Scientist, you will work with laboratory scale equipment and reactor systems collecting data for the design of the large-scale pilot plant studies and subsequent commercial plants.   In addition, the Research Technician may work as part of a team performing routine sample analysis utilizing analytical instruments (GC, ICP, HPLC, TOC, or KF).  This is a hands on R&D role.    


  • Run experiments, collect data, and analyze samples following operating procedures and analytical protocols
  • Assist the scientists and engineers in assembling and safely operating laboratory-scale reactor systems
  • Keep a lab notebook. Carefully observe and report trends, anomalies, and unexpected results.
  • Assist with experimental design
  • Prepare data summaries and overviews
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation/equipment (GCs, MFCs, furnaces, etc.)
  • Store and dispose of chemical wastes
  • Conduct safety reviews and participate in training as needed
  • Participate in R&D Review meetings with virtual presentations to Senior Management, Board Members, and Customers (Japanese language skills helpful)


Applicant Background Request:

We are searching for a Chemical Engineer or Chemist who would enjoy working hands-on in an R&D setting running experiments using small scale-reactors and laboratory instrumentation.  This person must have worked in industry for a few years in some capacity.  i.e. Maybe a Process Engineer now who previously did hands-on work while in college?  This client is NOT recruiting directly from a college campus for this role.

  • B.S. Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • 3+ years’ experience in industrial working hands-on supporting R&D effort
    • Time spent working in industry (not only in a university setting) is a must
    • The hands-on portion of the work can come from academia
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and be capable of performing maintenance and minor modifications to laboratory scale equipment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Comfortable working independently in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, small company environment necessary.
  • Experience with LabVIEW is a plus.
  • Good to have-  Japanese language skills are a big plus for customer communications but not required. 
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US (no current or future sponsorship available)
