Mechanical (Plumbing / HVAC) Estimator

Titles: Estimator, Senior Estimator, Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, Chief Estimator  

Trades: HVAC-wet side, HVAC-air side, Commercial Plumbing, Industrial Piping, BAC/Controls

Responsibilities:

• Prepare timely cost analysis using on-screen computer estimating software; calculating labor, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and other costs.

• Review bid documents for upcoming projects as well as large change-order requests.

• Develop value engineering strategies.

• Build and maintain Quickpen/Trimble Autobid pricing information.

• Maintain productivity rate and material pricing 

• Review and understand all project bid requirements and send bid information to subcontractors and vendors.

• Assist in vendor quotes for new projects  

• Prepare financial analyses of upcoming projects using value engineering to ensure customer satisfaction, including compliance with all state and federal standards.

• Generate and review concise and informative SOW statements.

• Attend pre-bid meetings and understand SOW with limited information.

• Create effective and efficient bids

Requirements:

• Work in estimating department of a medium or large commercial mechanical contractor

• Experience in mechanical estimating of mechanical systems for medium or large commercial mechanical/plumbing construction companies.

• Thorough knowledge of estimating both Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, Negotiated, and Plan-Spec projects, and ability to read and interpret CAD, Revit and construction documents.

• Produce accurate, timely and competitive estimates that can provide a reasonable profit 

• Local stable work history and strong recommendations/ referrals from former colleagues

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or construction management

• Plumbing, Pipefitting, and or sheet metal field experience
