Job Summary of the Lead FPGA Hardware Engineer:

A Lead FPGA Hardware Engineer with experience leading FPGA development through the entire development life-cycle is required for one of our clients in Austin, TX. This client is well known for their leading-edge ruggedized ADC, DAC, and digital signal processing products. This is a stable, growing company that is offering significant future opportunities to break into new technologies. In this role you will be responsible for leading and executing complex FPGA board-level development projects.  It will include working with the product management team, selecting components, head up the design, coordinate with other engineering groups, and work with the manufacturing team on solutions.

If you have good experience with high-speed differential lines and serial interfaces and have worked on designing boards with FPGAs (Xilinx UltraScale / HBM / RFSoC), then this position is well suited to you.


Responsibilities of the Hardware Engineer - FPGA:

  • Independently leading and executing complex FPGA board-level development projects
  • Collaborating with a team of FPGA designers, software engineers, and test developers
  • Identifying product requirements
  • Scoping project effort and stay on schedule
  • Risk assessment and mitigation
  • Design power supply, digital circuitry with high speed, high-performance Xilinx FPGAs, and latest DDR SDRAM and Flash memory technology
  • Specifications and schematics capture
  • Signal Integrity requirements and report evaluations
  • Layout constraints, guidance, and review
  • Generating and maintaining BOM
  • Testing and qualifying prototype boards


Qualifications for the Hardware Engineer - FPGA:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Master preferred
  • 7+ years of experience with designing high-speed differential lines and serial interfaces and boards with FPGAs (Xilinx UltraScale / HBM / RFSoC)
  • Experience leading teams through the full development life-cycle
  • Excellent knowledge of compliex digital electronics and high-speed signaling and signal integrity
  • Fluency in Mentor Graphics Xpedition DxDesigner is strongly desired
  • Experience with the VPX platform strongly is a plus
  • Ability to design FPGA/CPLD logic in VHDL is a plus


Compensation of the Hardware Engineer - FPGA:

Salary Range:  Up to 120K-150K+/year, depending on experience

Location: Austin, TX
Type:  Direct
Travel: Up to 25% (As and when required)
