Nurse Manager Emergency Department* – Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC

$20,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment 

Full-time nights (Monday - Thursday 6pm-4am)

This hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center and the ONLY trauma center for 19 counties in Western North Carolina. Licensed for 815 beds, we have 6 Emergency Departments in our system and this is our main flagship ED in Asheville, NC. It has 94 beds and we see about 300 patients a day as a comprehensive Stroke Center and Top 50 Cardiovascular hospital in the nation. Our ED also has a unique program for trauma nursing, forensic nursing as well as an in-house air medical team with two helicopters.

Role Summary: Responsible and accountable for daily operations of a designated clinical area. Advocates and allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, quality and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. Integrates clinical, human resource, and financial data to support decision making. Promotes research and integrates evidence-based practice into clinical, operational, and leadership processes. Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education: BSN or equivalent (ADN with MSN, BA with MSN)  

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.

Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.

Certification: National Certification in area of specialty within one year of accepting the role. Certification may be in leadership or area of clinical practice. Those actively pursuing degree must obtain national certification within 1 year of graduation.  Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider

Required Experience: A minimum of five years of recent nursing experience; 2 years in relevant clinical hospital experience with demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred Experience: Previous leadership experience

Position Vacancy Period: 143 days

Types of Services:  Added Pediatric designation in January.  Stroke certified

Monthly Department Volume: 90,923 in 2020 but was 110,824 in 2019 annual

# of Beds Per Unit: 100 bed ER

Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4

Type of culture (management style) of director or on the floor: servant leadership

# FTEs (MGR/DIR only) : 60 FTE for each manager; 3 managers with 9 Nursing Unit Supervisors (3 for each manager)

Compensation:  $80k - $128k (mid is $102,000).  

*This position is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment to Mission Health. Sign-on bonus will be paid out in your first paycheck!

Only new hires eligible for sign-on bonus; prior employees have to be separated from hospital for at least 1 year to be re-eligible for sign-on.
